The charger is only one part of the installation
An EV charging project includes equipment, a suitable connection and an assessment of the property supply. ESA advises using approved charging equipment, a dedicated circuit and outdoor-rated equipment where needed. The contractor should evaluate the proposed load and explain whether the supply, a load-management arrangement or another design is suitable. Do not choose a circuit from the charger advertising alone.
Prepare the scope for your Mississauga property
Share the vehicle model, anticipated parking arrangement and preferred charger location. If other large electrical changes are planned, include them now so the assessment can consider charging alongside the rest of the home.
Ask whether the existing supply supports the chosen charging arrangement or whether load management or a service change is appropriate. Confirm that equipment, circuit work, notification and final documentation are clearly separated in the quote.
What should the assessment establish?
For a Mississauga garage, review a normal parking and charging session before approving the wall location. The charging cable should reach the intended vehicle position without becoming part of the usual walking route. If a future second vehicle is only a possibility, ask which preparation is useful and which equipment decisions can wait. Compare the proposed arrangement with your actual charging need, not only the highest advertised output. Have the contractor explain the assessed supply and any load-management choice, then document the installation layout and agreed operation with the equipment information.
Questions before you agree to work
Can an existing garage outlet be used automatically?
An outlet or earlier provision needs to be assessed against the actual equipment and current installation. Its presence does not confirm approval, circuit capacity or suitability for the charging arrangement.
What paperwork should I request?
Ask the contractor about the ESA notification before installation and request the Certificate of Acceptance after the applicable review. Keep the equipment documentation and agreed operating information as well.
